Sky Broadband Shield

Sky Broadband Shield is a content filtering feature provided by Sky as part of their broadband service. It works by intercepting and filtering DNS queries, which interferes with the DNS resolution that Connect relies on to establish connections to the TAN.

When Sky Broadband Shield is enabled, Connect may be unable to connect, or may experience intermittent connectivity issues.

How to disable Sky Broadband Shield

To disable Sky Broadband Shield, follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser and go to the Sky Broadband Shield settings page.
  2. Sign in with your Sky account credentials.
  3. Set Sky Broadband Shield to Disable Shield.
  4. Save the changes.

Note

Changes may take a few minutes to take effect. You may need to restart Connect after disabling Sky Broadband Shield.

Alternative: disable Secure DNS in the Connect client

If you are unable to disable Sky Broadband Shield, you can instead disable the "Use secure DNS" setting in the Connect client on Windows:

  1. Open the Connect client.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Uncheck Use secure DNS.
  4. Restart Connect.
