Part 1: Organisations

Let’s learn by example.

During this tutorial, we'll walk you through setting up a basic software-defined network with CyberHive Connect.

Info

In order to complete this tutorial, you'll need an account for the Connect Control Service. Depending on your plan, you may be using a shared multi-tenant environment, or have your own dedicated environment.

To get an account, contact us via cyberhive.com.

Creating an Organisation

An Organisation is the administrative grouping for a set of Connect Endpoints. It is the boundary of the software-defined network; an Endpoint cannot be in multiple Organisations at the same time.

Tip

If you've been invited to an existing Organisation, or have created your own by signing up, you can skip this step and move on to part 2 of this tutorial to start working with Users.

To create an Organisation, navigate to the home page of the Connect control service and click on the Create Organisation button.

The Create New Organisation form will be displayed. Populate the following required fields:

  • Code: a short version of the Organisation name, suitable for use in URLs; for example, widgets-inc

    Format

Code can contain only letters, numbers, and hyphens.

  • Name: the name of the Organisation; for example, Widgets Inc.

Create New Organisation form

Go ahead and fill in the required fields. We'll take the defaults for the other fields for now. Then click the Save button.

Success

Congratulations - you've created a new Organisation! It should be present in the list of Organisations (you might need to sort or page through to find it if you have access to a lot of other Organisations).

Click on the name of the Organisation to reveal a set of tabs for Endpoints, Users, and Details.

Note that on the Details tab, there is an Edit button allowing you to make changes to the Organisation.

When you're comfortable with the basics of setting up an Organisation, read part 2 of this tutorial to start working with Users.
