This section refers to clients running version 3.2.0 or above.
Different routers exhibit different behaviour. This can impact how applications connect to the Internet.
The user interface has a button that looks like a WiFi symbol with a question mark over it.
This button can be used to check how your router behaves:
Possible outcomes of the network access check are:
Message | Meaning |
---|---|
Client has direct public IP address without NAT and will work. | Your Endpoint is situated on the public Internet. |
Client is behind endpoint-independent NAT and should work. | Your Endpoint is situated behind a router. Connect was able to determine your Public IP address and a reliable port number. |
Client is behind endpoint-dependent NAT, ask an administrator to enable the Connection Relay setting for this endpoint. | Your Endpoint is situated behind a router. Connect was able to determine your Public IP address, but could not find a port number guaranteed to work. You will need to connect via a Connection Relay. Your Administrator will be able to enable this for you. |
Client is blocked by a firewall and will not work. | Your Endpoint is situated behind a router. The router was found to be blocking network traffic related to IP address detection. You will need to ask your Administrator to unblock this traffic. |
Network failure. | Connect does not have network access at all. |
